5 Ways To Reset For September & The Rest Of 2016
Like many people, September always feels a complete reboot for me. It's probably due to 18 or so years in the education system but it's always such a refreshing time of year and weirdly feels much more like a new year than January 1st ever does. There are a few things that I always like to make sure that I do around this season to get myself geared up for the rest of the year and I'm excited to share them with you today.
HAVE A CLEAROUT
Probably because the seasons are changing it's the perfect time to have a good clearout. Whether it's just a general tidy up or completely overhauling your wardrobe. It can do wonders for your mind and of course your living space. Some people absolutely detest tidying and cleaning but it's something I really look forward to doing as having clutter and unnecessary rubbish around has a really horrible effect on my mind. And especially because I work from home I know that I can only do my best work in a clean and clutter free environment otherwise, I find myself procrastinating and faffing around. Having a clearout always feels like a mammoth task. But breaking it down into small sections is something I always find really helpful as that way it doesn't feel as overwhelming.
rEVISIT YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR & SET NEW ONES
Whether you subscribe to the whole new year resolution thing or not we all have goals and aims in life that we want to work towards. I try not to put too much pressure on myself when we start a new year. Because it's all too easy to run out of steam when the weather is terrible so you're never setting yourself up for the best start. So I always think that April and September are the best time to think of new goals and leave anything behind that hasn't quite worked out the way that you hoped in the past 8 months.
leave behind any negative feelings
As well as leaving behind any goals or aims that haven't quite worked out. Waving goodbye to any negative thoughts or memories [the best as you can] is also something that can give your mind a great restart for the rest of the year. I'm a total worrier and over-thinker and it's all too easy to let something that happened days or even years ago ruin a fresh time of your life when it doesn't need to. Bringing things from the past into the present rarely achieves anything but unwanted anxious thoughts and spiralling into worry. And even though it's something that's much easier said than done and something that I'm working on every day. I know in the long run it will make a huge different in my mental state.
EMBRACE A NEW SEASON OF YOUR LIFE
Like fashion, weather and sport we all have different seasons in our life. And September and A/W will be my season of hard work and hustle and even though I consider myself a hard worker all year round. This is the time of year that I always feel the most motivated and there are so many things that I want to achieve and do. But for some people, this might be their season to go a little slower and allow themselves to do things away from work. The concept of life working in seasons is still pretty new to me but it's something that I'm a big believer in. Life changes so much on a daily basis that it's almost obvious that your life won't ever be a constant steady flow.
DO SOMETHING NEW
As well as embracing a fresh season of your life doing something new is something I always try and do. I wrote a post about the new things that I was doing in the summer and I'm already excited to think of some new things to get up this A/W. When you're an adult and you've only just got your daily routine down it's so difficult to find the time to do something new. And it never has to be something life changing, it could be something as small as trying a new fitness video on YouTube. One thing I know that I will definitely be trying this September is playing around with my blog schedule a little more. I post every single day, sometimes twice a day and I'm not sure it's doing my content justice anymore. So maybe only posting 6 days out of the week might be a little more suited to me right now. And I love creating content every single day but I've started to feel a little bit like a hamster on a treadmill recently and I never want to feel that way with something I have complete control over.
What will you be doing to refresh this September?
