Getting Yourself Out Of The Winter Slump & Spring Ready

Ok, so we're now in March. I'm not sure how we managed to get here so quickly but here we are. As Spring will soon be sprung it's time to get out of the winter slump that I'm sure we've all been encountering. Here are a few awesome things to do that can help get you shake off those blues and prepare for Spring. 


EMBRACE THE LONGER DAYS

It's something that is so simple and natural but having daylight for longer is incredible. In summer, I always find myself in a little bit of a love-hate relationship with the really long days because I feel so guilty for wanting to lay on my bed and read when it's still so warm outside. But right now just having daylight till around 5.30pm is a big mood changer. Getting up in and coming home in the dark can have a huge affect on your mind on and your happiness. 

REVISIT YOUR GOALS

I'm sure we all made some sort of goals or resolutions at the beginning of 2016. When life gets busy and we're just doing the day to day it can be really easy to forget those goals. So why not look at them again? And see where you can take them from now on. Some of the things might not even be relevant to you and your plans anymore and some you could take in a new direction. It's always good to build and evolve goals and aims as in the long run they could be much more beneficial than they once were. 

GET OUTSIDE

Nothing makes me feel more motivated than getting outside in the fresh air. The temperature in the UK is still pretty baltic but once you're wrapped up warm and wearing a hefty amount of layers when the sun shines it's pretty glorious. Getting outside can do so much for your mind. Whenever I've found myself struggling with ideas or worrying even more than usual I know the best thing to make me feel like myself again is getting away from technology and letting my brain have some breathing space. 

MAKE PLANS

They don't have to be huge life changing plans, even something as small as making arrangements to see a friend can be a good way to shake the winter slump. When it's cold outside the last thing you want to do is drag yourself out in the icy temperatures. But with warmer climates on the horizon, it's the best time to make plans. 

WHAT DO YOU WANT THIS SEASON TO BE?

Ask yourself, what do you want Spring to be? Do you want it to be a season of hustle or do you want it to be a slow season where other things take precedent? It's completely up to you, shut off the noise from the online world and take the time to think about what you truly want. Not what you're being told from various online places about what you should be doing right now. 

SWITCH UP YOUR SURROUNDINGS

There is a reason why the ritual of Spring cleaning is something that we've carried on doing throughout the years. It's super cathartic to clean out your cupboards and get rid of any clutter that's built up over the past couple of months. Even just changing your bedding to something fresh and putting away those dark autumnal sheets can brighten up your space immediately. Your surroundings can play such a huge role in the way that you feel.
