Spring Intentions

Spring Intentions

I typically write little monthly to-do posts but in the current climate, it made more sense to make a seasonal one. Something that I’m extremely aware of right now is not to put a crazy amount of pressure on myself to get a million and one things done as we’re in a global pandemic and I don’t want to feel like I’m in an online productivity contest which feels like an easy trap to fall into. That being said there are a few one things that I’d like to try and achieve this Spring and they are…

at home workouts

Obviously, and thankfully my gym shut its doors a few weeks ago so my typical workout routine has been put on hold for the foreseeable future. As Josie and Edie need walking that takes up my outside the house exercise for the day so I need to find something that I enjoy doing inside as normally I'd go for a run. Working out at home is something that I’ve done in the past and I always enjoy it but I find it hard to motivate myself and always seem to find some sort of excuse not to do it even though I know how much better I feel afterwards. There are a plethora of online workouts anyway but now there are even more to choose from so I think it might be time to try something new. Although, it will be a few weeks before I can do any type of hardcore exercise as I managed to break one of my toes a few days ago so I need that to heal first.

spring cleaning

I’m sure like the majority of the world as I’m spending a little more time than usual at home it’s giving me the urge to clean and declutter more than ever before. They are both things that bring me a lot of joy, nothing quite excites me like a good clothing declutter but as I try and keep on top of clothing and beauty products I need to move onto less exciting parts of the house. Our loft has become a dumping ground for anything that we’re not sure what to do with so it desperately could do with a clear out as well as the spare room. The pantry is another place that just seems to accumulate rubbish and that’s not had a good clear or tidy up since we redecorated the kitchen last year. As we’re still hoping that we’re going to be moving in the next 18 months we want to move with as little as possible and declutter before we move rather than moving it all to a new house.

adjusting to life as it is now

Whilst my day to day life hasn’t changed an insane amount there are certainly things that I miss at the moment and things I’m still trying to get used to but it’s so important that the lockdown isn’t lifted in the UK anytime soon. Getting used to this strange new reality that we’re all experiencing is certainly difficult and whilst we’re aware of how much worse it could be that doesn’t mean you can’t feel sad about the things that you miss. For me, I really miss the promise of evening dog walks which is always my favourite thing about summer, a little evening wander around Tesco to buy jam roly pudding to have with custard, driving to see my dad and so many more little things that I would typically take for granted. If there is one thing I know I’m going to take out of this awful pandemic it’s that appreciating every single little thing you have is just as important as appreciating the big things.

wedding plans

As of right now, we’re hoping our wedding in October will go ahead as planned although we’re very aware that we might need to move it which isn’t ideal and certainly disheartening. But, if that has to happen then there is very little we can do as we’d rather our loved ones stay alive and be as safe as possible. We’re very nearly done with wedding planning as we’re only having a small ceremony and nearly everything is sorted out apart from the food which is what we’ll have through our venue anyway so hopefully that shouldn’t be too difficult to sort out. With everything that’s going on in the world right, it’s hard to feel excited about getting married as we have no idea what is going to happen with it so we’re just trying to remain hopeful and somewhat go on with planning as normal.

getting back into the swing of things with blogging

Blogging and Instagram is a very large part of how I make my income and whilst I like to think I’ve carried on as I would have normally done even with everything going on it’s hard to just pretend it’s business as usual because it isn’t. Paid projects aren’t going ahead as planned and even though 90% of what I create is free I’ve undeniably felt a little lost with what to do. I go through phases of thinking that there is no point in creating content right now as it’s not of any real importance to anybody and then the other half of me knows how nice it is to have an online place to escape to. So I’m trying to meet somewhere in the middle and put out anything that I feel might brighten someone's day whilst not ignoring the current climate of the planet as the last thing I want to be right now is ignorant. Here are some of my favourite bloggers that are still putting out awesome content;
