Travel-Friendly Beauty
Having been through university and packing an overnight bag for many years. I've got pretty good at knowing what makeup travels well and what doesn't. Even if you're not travelling and just want to throw some beauty products in your bag in case of a touch up, it's wise to know what works well and what doesn't. Here is my guide to what can withstand travelling and what can't.
THINGS TO AVOID IF POSSIBLE
- Glass.
- Products with non secure pumps.
- Throwing brushes in your bag without anywhere to store them properly.
- Products without secure lids.
- Loose powders.
- Palettes without mirrors.
- Makeup bags that can't be wiped.
the travel friendly products
CLINIQUE EVEN BETTER FOUNDATION: When on the go I try not to carry around foundations or bases that are in glass housing. Which is most of them on the market. Not only is glass heavy but if it breaks you not only have to deal with shards of it everywhere but there will obviously be a foundation explosion. The Clinique Even Better foundation is one of my all time favourite bases and what makes it even better is that it's travel-friendly. It's in light plastic housing that you just need to squeeze to dispense the product and the lid screws on securely.
LA ROCHE POSAY BB BLUR*: More often than not BB products always come in a tube which is great. But you might not want the coverage of a typical beauty balm or tinted moisturiser. This new release from French skincare brand La Roche Posay is the answer to those woes. It feels incredibly lightweight and natural on the skin but it provides a similar coverage of what you would find from a foundation.
FRESH SUGAR LIP BALMS: I've spoken so many times about these balms that I'm pretty sure we're all sick of hearing it. But they're worth all the praise they get and so much more. What makes these balms perfect for on the go is that you don't need to worry about the lid coming off in your bag and it ruining everything that it comes into contact with. And due to its screw up mechanism, you don't have to worry about dipping dirty fingers into a pot either.
TOO FACED CHAMPAGNE SHADOW INSURANCE: If you need to travel seriously light but still want something to wear on your eyes this is perfect. You don't need a brush to apply it, just your fingers and it deposits a beautiful champagne shade onto the lid with barely any effort at all.
REVLON CREAM BLUSH: A good cream blush can make a pretty good multitasking product if you ask me. You can use it a blush or a lip stain if you don't fancy travelling with multiple products. Again they're a product that you can apply with your fingers so you don't need to worry about carrying around a brush that could easily get damaged or ruin other items in your bag.
TOO FACED CHOCOLATE BON BONS PALETTE*: This isn't the smallest palette that you could take on the go. But its metal casing is sturdy enough to protect the shadows and it's less likely to fall open. It's got enough shadows to create pretty much any look you could think of and some could easily double up as a highlighter too. What would make this the perfect palette to travel with is if it had more matte shadows that could be used through the brows. But the huge mirror does certainly give it a lot of bonus points. As well as that dreamy chocolate scent.
